No menus to hunt through and no regular expressions to write. Type what you want the way you would say it, and the built-in AI shows you exactly what will change. Nothing is applied until you choose. Everything happens on your Mac, so your text never leaves it.
Say it the way you think it
“rename count to total”
“keep only the error lines”
“remove duplicate lines”
“sort A to Z”
“change the port to 9090”
“mark the second task as done”
“add a comment above this function”
“translate this into French”
Your words, polished in one click
Proofread: fixes spelling, grammar, punctuation and capitals, and keeps your wording and formatting.
Rewrite: reads better, same meaning, same length.
Friendly, Professional or Concise: change the tone or cut it down, still in your own voice.
Summary and Key Points: the gist of a long note, email or log excerpt.
List, Table and Organize: turn a wall of text into bullets, a table, or sections with headings, with every fact kept.
It understands. It doesn’t improvise.
Renames touch whole words only, so renaming count never changes counter.
Only the part of a line you asked about changes; indentation, commas, list markers and line breaks stay.
Nothing is deleted unless you asked for a delete.
If what you asked for can’t be found, nothing changes and it tells you.
Suggested changes are never applied until you choose to apply them, and they stay within what you asked for.
You see the result first, and every change is one undo step.
Private by design
Runs on your Mac. Your text is never uploaded, stored or logged.
Nothing runs in the background or while you type; it works only when you ask.
Works offline.
Free, like the rest of TextEditor++. No account and no sign-in.
Can I tell TextEditor++ what to change in plain English?
Yes. Type something like “rename count to total” or “keep only the error lines” and press Return. TextEditor++ shows what will change, and when you apply it, does exactly that, as one undo step.
Can it proofread, rewrite or summarise my text?
Yes. Proofread, Rewrite, Friendly, Professional, Concise, Summary, Key Points, List, Table and Organize work on the selection, or the whole document when nothing is selected.
Is my text sent to a server?
No. It all happens on your Mac. Your text is not uploaded, stored or logged, and it works offline.
Which Macs can use it?
It uses Apple Intelligence on your Mac, so it needs macOS 26 or later on a Mac with Apple Intelligence turned on. If it isn’t available, the Writing Tools panel explains why.
