Do I need to install Git?

TextEditor++ uses the Git on your Mac, version 2.30 or later. If it isn’t installed, the Source Control panel tells you how to get Apple’s Command Line Tools, or lets you choose a Git you already have.

Can I stage only part of a file?

Yes. Stage a single change from the margin, or select lines and choose Stage Selected Lines.

Is it safe to open a repository I just downloaded?

Yes. Repositories you haven’t trusted open in a restricted mode that never runs hooks or other programs the repository configures. Changes such as staging and committing are available once you trust it.
