LATEST RELEASE
TextEditor++ 26.24
This update brings Git source control, a redesigned Compare, Replace in Files, Markdown preview, Payment Tools and many new ways to edit and get around your documents faster.
Git
Source Control lets you review, stage and commit your changes without leaving the editor.
Changed lines are marked beside your text, and inline blame shows who last changed each line.
Branch history and merge conflicts are easy to see and resolve.
Repositories you don't trust open in a safe restricted mode.
Compare
Both sides of a comparison can now be edited, and the differences update as you type.
Individual changes can be copied from one side to the other with a single click.
Comparisons can ignore whitespace, letter case or blank lines, or highlight changes word by word.
Whole folders can be compared, and any comparison can be saved as a patch.
Find and replace
Replace in Files previews every change first and lets you undo the whole replacement afterwards.
Find highlights matches as you type, and Replace can keep the original capitalisation.
Navigation
Goto Anything opens any file, symbol or line in a few keystrokes.
The Command Palette finds any command by name.
You can go back and forward through the places you've visited, and reopen tabs you closed.
Breadcrumbs and sticky headers show where you are in long files.
Links and file paths open with a ⌘-click.
Editing
Multiple cursors make it easier to change many lines at once.
Selections can grow to the surrounding word, bracket or block of code.
Spelling is checked as you type.
A distraction-free mode hides everything except your text.
Optional modal editing and familiar keyboard layouts help you work the way you're used to.
Languages and settings
Each language can have its own indentation, rulers and other settings.
You can choose which language a file opens as.
Your place in each file, along with folds and selections, is remembered.
Colour schemes from other editors can be imported.
Encodings and characters
33 more text encodings are supported, including Japanese, Chinese, Korean and Cyrillic.
Characters that can't be saved in an encoding are shown before anything is written.
The Character Inspector shows details about any character.
Extracting text
Text extraction from PDFs now includes form fields, checkboxes and barcodes or QR codes, with a progress bar while it works.
Checkboxes and boxed fields on scanned forms are recognised too.
Large XML files can be checked and converted to JSON, whatever their size.
Markdown
Markdown documents can be previewed live, side by side as you write.
The preview runs no scripts and stays offline unless you allow it.
Payment Tools (beta)
Payment Tools brings 61 tools for card, key and payment message work into the editor.
Everything runs on your Mac, and keys and card details are hidden until you choose to show them.
Remote
Container and Kubernetes logs on your servers can be followed side by side.
Unused connections close after a time you choose, and reconnect as soon as you need them.
Dropped connections are noticed quickly, and your files reopen right where you left them.
Each remote tab shows whether it is online, reconnecting or offline; click the indicator to reconnect.
Connections recover automatically after your Mac wakes or changes network.
Fixes an issue where a remote file could appear blank after it changed.
Writing Tools
Suggested changes are never applied until you choose to apply them, and stay within what you asked for.
Results appear in a cleaner, more compact panel.
Other improvements
A reorganised menu bar with new Text, Find and Go menus makes every command easier to reach.
The window gives more room to your text, without a repeated document title above the tabs.
Improves performance and memory use with large files and logs.
Includes stability and reliability improvements.

TextEditor++ 26.21
What’s new
New Explorer sidebar: open a folder and see its files on the left of the window. Click a file to open it; for images, PDF, Word and Pages files you choose whether to extract the text or open the file as it is.
Word suggestions as you type, from the words already in your document.
Change bars next to the line numbers: orange for lines you changed but haven’t saved, green once saved.
One Extract Text window for images, QR codes, barcodes, PDF, Word and Pages files. PDF extraction now also reads pictures, scanned pages and diagrams.
New text tools: straighten or curl quotes, remove accents, convert to plain ASCII, Unicode normalization, Word Case, and Ensure Line Break at End of File.
Use TextEditor++ actions in the Shortcuts app.
Window ▸ Keep on Top keeps a window above all others.
Fixed an issue where edits made after saving might not be restored after an unexpected quit.
Fixed a crash when highlighting some deeply nested files.
General stability and performance improvements.
TextEditor++ 26.20
What’s new
Work with files and logs on your servers directly from the editor. Add a server once, then connect in one click.
Follow logs live as they’re written: files on servers, Docker containers, Kubernetes pods, system journals, cloud logs, or the output of any command.
Show only the lines you care about, with the lines around them, and keep several views of one log open at once.
Capture just the part of a log where something happened.
Find matching start and end lines and collect everything between them.
Edit a file on a server safely. It stays read-only until you unlock it, and saving checks nobody else changed it first.
Fixed an issue where clicking a bookmark dot did nothing with large line numbers.
General stability and performance improvements.
TextEditor++ 26.19

A more familiar look for your files in Finder.
Pasting an image or PDF now asks before extracting its text.
