Terms and Conditions

Always free.
TextEditor++ costs nothing and will always be free. You get the full experience, with no premium version, paid upgrade, or advertisements.
1. About these terms
These terms describe the permission to use TextEditor++ (the “app”) and the information provided on texteditorplusplus.com (the “website”). The publisher is identified on this website as TextEditor++. Official installers are available on the Downloads page.
The permissions below apply to official releases unless a separate licence accompanying it expressly provides additional rights. These terms do not override rights you have under applicable law.
2. Permission to use the app
The publisher grants you a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to install and use an official copy of TextEditor++ for lawful purposes. You may install it on devices you own or are authorised to manage, and make reasonable backup copies.
3. Your work belongs to you
Using TextEditor++ does not give the publisher ownership of your documents, code, logs, or other work. You may use work you create or edit with the app, subject to any rights or obligations that already apply to that work. You are responsible for having permission to access and process the files you use.
4. Proprietary code and permitted use
TextEditor++ is proprietary software provided free of charge. The publisher retains ownership of the app’s original source code, compiled code, and associated intellectual property. Giving you free access to the full app does not transfer that ownership or make the app open source.
Unless the publisher gives you prior written permission, you must not modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative versions of the app’s proprietary code; publish, distribute, sublicense, or sell that code or modified versions of the app; or remove copyright or ownership notices. Copying the official app for installation and backup as permitted in section 2 remains allowed.
You must not reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the proprietary app except where applicable law expressly permits it. These restrictions do not override rights that cannot lawfully be restricted, or permissions granted by an applicable third-party licence.
These restrictions apply to TextEditor++ itself, not to your own documents, scripts, code, or logs. You remain free to edit your own work with the app as described in sections 2 and 3. The app’s branding and website materials remain the property of their respective rights holders; no trademark rights are granted.
Third-party components remain subject to their own applicable licences and notices. Where those licences grant rights to use, modify, or redistribute a component, those rights remain intact.
5. Responsible use and your files
Use the app and website lawfully, respect other people’s rights, and do not misrepresent your work or services as officially endorsed by TextEditor++.
Keep backups of important files and review edits before saving, sharing, or using them in production. Logs can contain credentials, personal information, or confidential business data; check that you are authorised to handle or disclose that content.
6. Availability, updates, and support
The website describes the app and its intended workflows. Release dates, future features, support response times, and compatibility with every file or environment are not guaranteed. Any support or update commitments that are expressly made with a release, and any obligations imposed by law, continue to apply.
TextEditor++ will always provide its full experience free of charge, with no subscription, premium tier, or paid upgrade. These terms do not authorise retrospective charges for use already permitted under them.
7. Warranties and legal rights
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the app and website are provided “as is” and “as available”, without additional voluntary warranties. This does not exclude any guarantee, duty, remedy, or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability where exclusion or limitation is prohibited by law. Any applicable mandatory consumer protections remain in force.
8. Changes to these terms
Updated terms will be published on this page with a new date. Changes will not remove the commitment that TextEditor++ will always be free. Changes do not retrospectively remove permissions already granted for an app version you obtained under these terms. If a future release requires acceptance of materially different terms, those terms must be presented with that release rather than treated as accepted merely because you visit this website.
9. Stopping use and remaining rights
You may stop using the app at any time. You may keep your own documents and work. If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the remaining provisions apply only to the extent permitted by law. These terms do not restrict access to courts or remedies available under applicable law.
10. Support
